Adobe Acrobat files not loading:

Almost everything that is printable on this site is in Adobe Acrobat. I have to confess that there may be times when these files will be slow to load depending on all kinds of things. If Adobe Acrobat is not loading try the following:

  • Make certain that you do not already have Acrobat running in the background.
  • Minimize or close other applications that are running on your computer (Adobe Acrobat can be memory hungry)
  • Hit the Refresh button to force it to reload
  • Try again later, the server may be busy. This website gets heavy traffic between noon and midnight.
  • Be patient, sometimes the forms will take over a minute to load during the busy hours.
  • Internet Setting: Run ActiveX controls and Plug-ins If this setting is disabled you will get a blank screen. You must choose enable or prompt for the aforementioned setting. Adobe Acrobat Reader uses a plug-in to load in your internet browser.
  • Did you recently install a new version of reader without uninstalling the old version? After making certain that the new version is compatible with your computer, uninstall the old version of reader before installing the new version.

The Adobe Acrobat files on this website were made with Adobe Acrobat 4. It is possible that if you have an earlier version of the Acrobat Reader, the files may not open or they may not work properly. Versions 4, 5, and later should work.

Adobe Acrobat printing a black background: <- Setting change needed

In the printer settings, choose:

  • Print as an image
  • Be sure Fit to Page is also checked as most of the Acrobat files on this website are compressed images.

The files do not print completely on one page:

  • Be sure "Fit to Page" is checked as most of the Acrobat files on this website are compressed images.

If you are getting error messages:

If you are getting plug-in failures or plug-in errors: <- This usually means you need to reinstall acrobat reader because all of the plug-ins were not installed or something has messed up.

  • This indicates that there is a problem with your Acrobat Reader. You should reinstall it and make certain to install all of the plug-ins because Acrobat Reader uses an ActiveX plug-in to open in your internet browser. Note: Uninstall the old version first. Installing new versions without uninstalling old version often causes problems.

The text does not print, instead it prints little boxes. <- This is typically an issue with your printer's drivers.

  • If you have a new computer but an older printer, you may need to update the printer's driver.
  • What has changed on your computer? If there have been some changes, you may need to reinstall Acrobat Reader.
  • Workaround suggestion 1: In the print properties box, under "quality setting" choose "draft." Under "color" choose "black & white." What this does is reduce the DPI to a manageable level for the printer.
