DY-org Makeover

Donna YoungDonnayoung.org is getting made over. DY is going to be completely redone page by page and the colors will be changed to blue and white. DY used to be blue and I liked it. I’m not sure why I changed it to its current color scheme. The first DY was white with roses, how girly is that?

Anyway, why am I announcing this? Some day in the near future, the whole site will be different. Whoever reads this will be expecting it and won’t be surprised by it.

This redo will take some time, the entire site, every page, will have to be rewritten and donnayoung.org has over 1000 web pages and I am very interested in getting this project done as soon as possible. I have three other dy-related projects that I set aside to do this one.

Here is a screen shot of what the pages might resemble. This shows the printing readiness web page. Colors are not set in stone just yet, although this is pretty close. Design isn’t settled either, obviously some pages will have to have a different structure, but I will try to keep content navigation as consistent as possible. In fact navigation is one of the current hold-ups in this project.

Possible look for DY

  1. You had roses and I did not know it? mad

I am thinking that pink would be nice for some of the pages....or at least......maybe.....the calendar pages???

  2. Pink calendar pages, eh? big smile

I had roses CC and you missed them. razz I`d say that just about everyone missed the roses. They were on my very first web site back in 1998.

If I were on the ball, or not so busy, my blog would be pink this month. October is national breast cancer awareness month.

  3. do not listen to CC. Red would be nice on calendar pages. poke

I think I was on your website somewhere around 98 or 99. I really do not remember what it looked like then, except that there is a lot more to it now. big smile

Looking forward to the change. smile

  4. Ha! I remember the pink roses~! I ran our regional homeschool website WAY back then and you had one of the few homeschool-y web sites on the Internet back then.
My site site is currently pink and the though of switching over to a new theme gives me stomach cramps!

I hope I am not being too bold- I am running a Homeschooling Logo design contest- for homeschool kids- and trying to get the word out- if you have a moment would you consider posting about it? You can see details here: Homeschooling Awards Logo Design Contest
Thanks and good luck with switching themes..

  5. Hi Lisa, I`ll promote your logo design contest with a widget. That way it`ll always be on top, so to speak.

Thanks, I am excited, yet dreading the redo. All pages and meta have to be recoded. My site currently uses tables to organize content and I am switching to css/div`s . There`s a learning curve going on here.

  6. :ooo: I never saw the roses either but then I did not have internet access until April of 1999.

I look forward to seeing the changes to the website, Donna. Pink or Red sound nice but I like the shades of blue as well.

  7. Can I work any slower on this redo? neutral Plodding would describe the pace.

  8. The makeover looks great! I can`t imagine trying to redo 1000 pages. :ooo: I was using your site back then, and I "think" I remember the pink roses. (So much information has been in and out of the brain since then! smile )

You have done an excellent job with this website and I have been so grateful over the years for it :!:

    Thank so much!

  9. I do not care if you use blue and white or little flowers, I love your website. I have been making to do lists since I could start writing. As a teenager, my sister made fun of me for it which caused me to stop for a good long time. You have brought it back into my life and I thank you for that!!

  10. Thank you Claire! smile
This reminds me that I need to get Christmas things put away so I can resume working on the dy-website.
