Monkey Wrench I am still not finished with the quilt. I was interrupted in my work numerous times on Monday, you know how that is, and I have not picked it up again. I am anxious to get back to work on it, but while my coffee is brewing, I am going to update and share a few images.

The image shown on the left is the center of the quilt. I redesigned the center. I don’t know why, the original center was just fine. If I think this new center will not work, I will remove it. The new center is based on a quilt pattern called Monkey Wrench.

This is how I left my cutting board on Monday. I had just finished the 30 degree cut and I was checking the paper for the next step. The paper shown is a page from a group of papers stapled together that I wrote in 1994. That is the year I worked out the details of the quilt pattern or rather, instructions, for this quilt. I am currently on page 4.

Those who are mathematically inclined might appreciate this image of how Part five is handled. This is how it is done after cutting the strips on 45 degree bias and sewing them together and pressing the pieces.

This is me pictured with the quilt. The image doesn’t show much, but I can’t really show the quilt until parts 5 and 6 are in place.

Hmmmm, it doesn`t look anything like the one John was wanting. I am not sure he is going to like it. You should give it to me, because then you`ll really know that someone will love it. wink

Thanks for updating the "I owe a quilt to my son 100 years ago" project. The center is beautiful. Of course you know I like red and I really like how it looks.

My favorite photo is the coffee pot with your arm, in the reflection, grabing for a cup. big smile

I also liked the mathematical picture.

You have gotten so much done in just a few days! The center is nifty, and I am duly impressed with your math picture. I can`t wait to see it all put together!

I have designed quilt blocks before, but never an entire quilt. I think my brain would explode before I could finish.

The boy caught your reflection in your coffee pot. I did not as I did not really even look at that one. I was to busy noticing your lovely quilt.

WOW. Just WOW. We can tell just from the little that you`ve pictured how beautiful it is.

Quilters amaze me: the time, the patience, the exactness of it all. So, this is a quilt that you owed your son? Hmmm...maybe I should get out that cross-stitch sampler I designed and started when I was pregnant with my daughter, but never finished. She`s 12 now. :roll: laughing

I have finally cut out and sewn all of the pieces for this tedious part 5. They are not sewn on the quilt yet, but after I pin them, matching each seam (sigh) then sewing them will be a breeze. :)
