This is to announce the V Planner 44, a new V Planner that supports shared subjects. The planner is currently in Beta stage and is full of sample data. The data should help you figure out how to use the planner should you decide to download it and have a look, which is good because there are no help files, I have to write those later. Like all V Planners, the file is only available to YoungMinds customers who have access to the V Planners. Remember, the file is beta, not final. I will announce when it is deemed final enough for actual use. The link goes to my slow blog in at DY.

This calendar is educational in a way. It is a monthly calendar and has no numbers, however; it is dated. Each month will have the right amount of date blocks in the proper places. The child should write the dates in the correct block, basically beginning with day 1 in the first block and writing numbers in sequence, across then down, until the blocks are filled. The child could also write the month and year, which is already noted on each month, and draw a seasonal picture on each month. Optionally, holidays could be noted. This calendar can potentially (depending on child's age) add to skills and knowledge in language arts, math, social studies, and drawing.

Two years ago a woman emailed me and asked, "Where is the black and white blank top handwriting paper with the landscape orientation?" (My web site says that I have it) I looked at where it was supposed to have been and it was not there. ... And so I made a file with 7 hadwriting rule sizes and emailed the file to her and then I linked the file on the blank-top handwriting paper page without any description whatsoever - it was just a link. Today, 2 years later, I wonder, did I ever describe the link, make it user-friendly? No I didn't. And so today I fixed that. Now it is plain to see and easy to find the blank-top horizontal handwriting paper in 7 rule sizes.

The Human Body - Table of Contents and Planning Pages

To add to yesterday's lesson plans for The Human Body, I added two files that I made today. I noticed the plans are page numbers, and so for those who use the software rather than the book, I've added a 2-page table of contents for the purpose of translating the page numbers into heading names. While I was making that, I made a "planning file" of 16 pages, 1 per module that has on each page the table of contents and supply list per module as well as ruled lines for your planning notes.

I've updated the art index for donnayoung.org. After that I added a link to the art index on most of the pages in the art section. Naturally I wanted to make sure that all of the art pages are up to date and none are redundant, so I deleted all of the art pages at DY, then uploaded them again. It's extreme to delete pages from a live site, but it works. I'm always grateful that mid-way through the process that my internet doesn't go down.

Language Arts Forms for Homeschoolers

Language Arts Forms - This page brings together forms that can be used for language arts. The two that I used the most are listed first. The first one, a planner, can be for any subject that has three divisions. I made it for my children's high school English classes because the bulk of the plans for each day were in three parts -- Composition, Grammar, and Literature (typically). Think of it as a 6-week planner for a complex subject.
