Fried Rice

  • 1 1/2 cups white long grain rice
  • 2 tablespoons oil (olive oil)
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 bouillon cubes (any flavor, usually chicken)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (optional)


Rinse and drain the rice. Place the oil in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat. Add the rice to the oil. Stir. Cook the rice in the oil until it begans to brown. Add the water, bouillion cubes, and tabasco sauce. When the water starts to simmer, adjust heat to maintain simmer. Cover and cook for 15-18 minutes.

serves 4-6

This recipe is basic and I rarely cook it with only the ingredients show here. Typically I add a number of different food items.
Can Add with water-
dried herbs, any dry or fresh vegetables that can cook in under 15 minutes.
Can add to oil shortly before adding rice
raw chicken cubes, sliced raw vegetables
