Those wings just look so much like small butterfly wings to me. They don’t look strong enough to allow such a large insect to actually fly
It is an interesting moth to watch. The wings are moving almost constantly kind of like a hummingbird does. It darts about and uses it "tail fluff" to maneuver.

I would never have guessed as it looks more like part of the bee type family to me but then again I don’t study insects/bugs much at all. hehehe
You still noticed a clue that it might not be a bee, that its wings resembled butterfly wings. Scientific reasoning you have going on Elaine. =D
