Lab report for experiment 6.1. He did this one in first person, sort of a collection of thoughts as he looked through the microscope.

As you can see from these examples, a lab notebook can be casual. Its purpose is to record how experiments were done and the findings of the experiments. Lab notebooks are similar to journals. Sometimes, drawings are the 'teller' of the findings and if your student is having trouble drawing, I suggest that you add a few drawing classes using these printables at - Drawing Ia.
