Remembering Which Months Have How Many Days
This is the way my father, William Randolph, taught me
Make a fist and starting with the first knuckle on your hand say the months of the year. Include the valleys between the knuckles. The valley months have 30 days or less and the knuckle (hill) months have 31 days. When you get to the last knuckle, return to the first knuckle and continue. See the animation below.
A Poem
THIRTY DAYS HATH SEPTEMBER
Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone.
And that has twenty-eight days clear,
And twenty-nine in each leap year.
